This has been an amazing Fall by anyone’s standard. During our build so far it has only rained one day in the last month. They say all clouds have a silver lining as a way of saying things aren’t as bad as they seem. I am a fairly positive person so I like that saying. However, every once in a while the little things, or the things I cannot control, really irk me. In those times I say – every raindrop has a ripple effect.
Our footings were to be poured on a Wednesday then our foundation walls poured on that Friday. After the foundation walls are poured they have to cure for one week. Then they frame the house.
This fall we have only had one day of rain that would have impacted construction. It just so happened to be the Wednesday our footings were to be poured. No biggie… they poured the footings the following day. That means the foundation walls will be poured Monday or Tuesday the next week. A little more bothersome, but no big deal.
Unfortunately, story has it that trucks broke down so the foundation would be put off until late that week. That turned into early the next week then finally… a full two weeks later, we have joy.
Enough being grumpy and sarcastic on this topic. The following is kind of neat.
The foundation walls were poured. It took several trucks of concrete… I think I counted 6. It is quite a process.
This is a view of the foundation from the driveway at the first corner of the garage.

As far as our amazing Fall weather is concerned, it took a turn for the worse on this day. Very windy and cold. The guy inside the port-a-potty was not seriously injured. Just kidding, he got hurt really badly. Just kidding again. No one was inside.
